Ring Making

Fifteen days until we elope for our wedding and i'd been looking forward taking much needed "Time Out" from running around like a headless chicken- That frankly isn't achieving much, other than continually declaring the days left and how much we have yet to do!

Aside from leaving at 8 am- (Which as we are childless is a cardinal sin on a Sunday) we traveled to Whitstable to spend the day with Mark Fenn, owner of Whitstable Wedding Rings. Since seeing the idea on Channel 4's "Kirsty's Vintage Home" I knew making our wedding rings was a MUST! And to my surprise, Liam was rather taken with the idea, too. After an initial meeting to discuss our requirements I received an email quote, wincing as I opened it I was pleasantly surprised that the cost was so reasonable for such a unique experience.

On the day, Mark and wife Jane made us feel at ease in their home, where Marks studio is based. With Marks expertise and encouragement we were guided through the process of creating each others rings. The steady supply of tea, coffee and biscuits, together with a tasty lunch gave the day a relaxed feel.

To my complete amazement out of a strip of metal I managed to create a ring for Liam I am thrilled with- Not once did I lose interest, or give up- which for me is quite an achievement (Serial craft "starter"!!) This is undoubtedly down to Marks excellent tutoring and calming influence. The day ended with cake and champagne- Perfect!

I cannot recommend this experience enough. On the run up to the "Big Day" it's a welcome break from planning to spend the day with your partner learning a new skill and creating your own wedding rings- So romantic!
